Viscopy, Australia and New Zealand's not-for-profit rights management organisation for the visual arts, is holding a series of free Sydney seminars that will demystify legal jargon and explain what rights artists have.
Viscopy experts will be there to answer your questions, large or small, on any aspect of copyright and to explain how they can help you manage your rights.
Workshops will be held:
– Thursday 15 April, 10:00am to 12:00pm
– Thursday 17 June, 10:00am to 12:00pm
– Thursday 12 August, 10:00am to 12:00pm
– Tuesday 30 November, 11:00am to 1:00pm (in conjunction with our annual general meeting)
These seminars are absolutely free and will place in Viscopy's Sydney premises. Places are limited and reservation is essential.

How to make your brand great – IP and branding seminar
IP Australia is holding a workshop in Sydney that will help business owners understand the key elements they need to create and protect a leading brand. Workshop attendees will also receive access to a free consultation with an intellectual property professional upon request.
Over breakfast seminar attendees will explore why some brands are more successful than others; why consumers choose one brand over another and how brands' protect their interests in the modern marketplace.
Key topics for the seminar are:
– Harnessing the benefits of the trade mark system in order to create or evolve a distinctive brand personality;
– Using domain names as a way of enhancing a brand;
– Applying real life strategies to help expand a brand into overseas markets;
– Identifying key ownership considerations for brand managers;
– Implementing strategies to deal with direct competitors and maintain brand integrity.
