Emerging contemporary jewellery and object makers are invited to apply for a bench space in Gaffa's new expanded premises in Sydney's CBD. Leases can begin early February 2010.

Artist run space Gaffa is relocating at the end of 2009 to a beautiful, four floor heritage listed building near Town Hall station. On the third level will be expanded studio and workshops spaces that will enable the initiative to house more emerging jewellery and object practitioners and to run bespoke classes.

Individual spaces are approximately 2 x 2 metres and rents will beginning at $110 (incl. GST) per week. Studios are lockable from the main thoroughfare.

Designers who lease a space will be provided with:
– An empty space with basic lighting and power outlet (BYO bench)
– All outgoings including electricity
– Opportunity to display work in our retail section for emerging practitioners
– Access to the facilities in the main communal workshop (see list of equipment below)
– Access to bathroom and shower facilities
– Back to base security system
– Reduced rates to hire or access a meeting room
– Access to a wonderful community to bounce your creative ideas off!

The workshop includes access to the following equipment – an extraction system, soldering area; polishing wheel, rolling mill, drill press, enamelling kiln, grinder, tumbler, ring mandrels, bezel mandrels, doming blocks and punctures, bench cutter, communal torch and more.
