Design Victoria: Integrating sustainability workshop

Design Victoria is holding a workshop that will benefit owners and managers of small to medium businesses interested in gaining a better understanding of ways to incorporate sustainable practices into everyday business.

Sustainability is a term receiving unprecedented attention – but what is it and how can you implement sustainable practices into your day-to-day business practices? How can you move away from the rhetoric surrounding sustainability to reach an informed position that facilitates sustainable action?

Drawing on 20 years of extensive experience advancing the field of sustainability, presenters will demonstrate how businesses can explore ways to incorporate sustainable practices with integrity.

Through examining best-practice case studies the workshop will introduce concepts and strategies that enable informed decisions making the move towards sustainability in both product development and business operations.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

– How to define and demystify sustainability in a meaningful way.
– Identifying where to invest time and money to achieve the greatest reduction for sustainable outcomes.
– Understanding the various tools and strategies to assist in the move towards more sustainable outcomes.

The program will be facilitated by presenters from the Centre for Design at RMIT University – Andrew Carr, Program Director; Stephen Clune, Research Officer; and Simon Lockrey, Research Fellow.

The integrating sustainability workshop will be held Wednesday 28 October 2009, 9:00am to 1:00pm (registration is at 8:45am).

It will take place at the Bong Su Room, Melbourne Zoo, Elliot Avenue, Parkville.

The workshop includes coffee and tea on arrival, lunch and networking opportunities.

Bookings are free but are essential for catering. RSVP by Monday 26 October 2009. Please book early as places are limited.
