Artist in Residence program 2010
arts@work, in collaboration with the Australia Council for the Arts, has introduce a new Artist in Residence program for professional Tasmanian artists or arts organisations. Five individuals or groups will be selected from the fields of visual arts, design and craft, performing arts, literature, interactive media and music to take up residence in five selected Tasmanian high schools through the first school term in 2010. Each resident will be offered a fee of $7,000.
This pilot program intends to use the intersection between artists and schools as an opportunities for artists or groups of artists to acquire new skills in an education environment while developing their practice.
The successful applicants will undertake a program of professional development which will include a schools induction, supervision and support from appointed school staff, access to other artists working in educational settings and a selected artistic mentor to support their development.
Applications are due 28 October 2009.
