The Ian Potter Cultural Trust is accepting applications for the final round of their 2009 grant program. The trust seeks to encourage the diversity and excellence of emerging artists in Australia by providing grants of up to A$7,000 to early career artists practising in a wide range of disciplines within the arts, including the performing and visual arts, crafts, music, film, television, radio, literature, Indigenous art, design, community arts and other areas.

Former design recipients of the grant include Kelly Leonard, a textile designer who undertook an art residency in weaving in Laos, Tim Bassett a glass designer who undertook a two-week glass and plasma workshop at The Glass Furnace, Turkey and Trent Jansen who undertook a study tour visiting design producers in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and taly in August and September 2008.

The next closing date for 2009 grant rounds is Thursday 1 October 2009
 for projects or travel occurring after 18 December 2009.

Pan Gallery is inviting Australian ceramic artists living outside of Victoria to apply for a gallery hosted exhibition in their exhibition space. Exhibitions will take place in the first six months of 2010. Solo and group shows will be considered.

The successful applicants will be chosen on the basis of creative skills, achievements and innovation and will sign a contract with Pan Gallery to undertake a one month exhibition at an agreed upon time. 

Pan Gallery will provide:

— The gallery space free of charge;
— Curatorial and installation assistance if required;
— Design and printing of gallery formatted two-sided, full colour DL invitations;
— Two email invitation distributions to Pan Gallery subscribers;
— All advertising, including listing in Art Almanac and Trouble;
— Distribution of a press release to media;
— Promotion of the exhibition on the Northcote Pottery website;
— The labelling and cataloguing of works;
— Hosting and catering for opening event;
— Staff to supervise and process sales during business hours.

Work on exhibition may be sold at the artist’s discretion. There will be a 30% commission on any artwork sold.

The artist is responsible for the cost of freight of the artwork to and from the gallery. Delivery of work ready for installation must occur one week prior to the exhibitions commencement. Personal travel expenses will also be the responsibility of the artist.

Applications are due 6 October 2009.

The Singapore Furniture Award 2010 is accepting entries from international designers. The competition is organised by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council in conjunction with the International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show.

The awards aim to uncover budding design talents and is a platform for exchange and networking amongst furniture manufacturers and designers.

There are three categories – Student, Young Designers and Open. Winners and finalists will be eligible for cash prizes and other opportunities.

Entries due 1 September and 21 December 2009.
