The iF concept award: Open for entries

The International Forum Design is inviting entries from young designers worldwide for the 2010 iF Concept Award. The award offers students and recent graduates from the areas of design, architecture, marketing and engineering an opportunity to compare themselves on an international level and to present their ideas to the design-interested public.

Since their introduction in the year 1953, the iF design awards have been a reliable indicator of outstanding quality in design. The iF logo, awarded by international experts, is trusted the world over and denotes proven design quality. Companies and design studios use it as a visible symbol in their communication. For potential clients, the iF logo is a guideline for finding the best products and creative services within the marketplace.

Students of all academic design, architecture, marketing and engineering courses worldwide are invited to submit their concepts to the iF concept award. Both team and individual projects will be accepted. Graduates of these courses can also submit their work if they graduated within the last two years (reference date is the date of registration).

There is no limit to the number of contributions each participant can submit. However, each entry can only be submitted once and only in one category. Participation in the iF concept award is free of charge.

There are several categories in which designers may enter:

– Time to market
Concepts submitted to this category must show a high degree of maturity and depth of development. Since these concepts must be marketable, participants. are asked to present a successful marketing concept for their entries and ideas on the submitted posters and in the project description.

– Industrial design
Product design, transportation design, packaging design, materials and material applications, manufacturing methods.

– Fashion design
Fashion design, textile design, costume design, fashion accessories and jewellery.

– Communication and multimedia design
Digital media and print media.

– Architecture and interior design
Public spaces and buildings, private spaces and buildings, temporary architecture

– Universal design
Here, we are looking for buildings, spaces, products and services that are designed according to the principles of universal design. This means that these products can be used by a wide range of users with differing needs and abilities – design for everyone.

The jury reserves the right to change the category of a submission. This will not affect a product’s chance of receiving an award.

Registration for the iF concept design award closes 5 January 2010.
