Applications are currently being accepted from artists, designers and creative thinkers from around the world for the Hambidge Residency Program. Hambidge is located on 600 pristine acres in the North Georgia Mountains. The site features mountain forests, streams, waterfalls, hiking trails and wildflower meadows and is located approximately 1.5 hours away from Atlanta in the state of Georgia in North America.

Hambidge has nine secluded cottage studios. Each resident is housed in his or her own stand alone studio. The studio contains a work area as well as sleeping area, kitchen and bath. The structures themselves are diverse and unique. The site also has a state of the art pottery studio and an anagama wood fired kiln which are available for use.

Residency applications are received year round from:

– Visual artists
Ceramicists, conceptual artists, environmental artists, fibre artists, filmmakers and videographers, metalworkers, mixed media artists, painters, photographers, printmakers, sculptors and woodworkers are invited to apply. Hambidge does not have a darkroom or printmaking facilities but provide exploration space for artists working in those disciplines. Those working in wood or metal must bring their own tools and machinery.
– Architects, designers, design theorists and writers
Designers or writers working in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, graphic design, industrial design and environmental design are invited to apply.
– Writers
Writers creating fiction, poetry, literary nonfiction, nonfiction are invited to apply as well as playwrights, journalists and screenwriters.
– Musicians, composers, music theorists
– Dancers, choreographers, dance theorists and writers
– Academics

Applications for the next residency round are due 15 January 2010 for residencies taking place from May through August .
