Green jewellery and objects symposium
The Queensland College of Art in Brisbane is holding a half day symposium focussed on how jewellery and object design makers can introduce ecological, environmental, ethical and green practices in their own studios.
The event will look at how green concerns are affecting contemporary design practice.
The environmental impacts of the jewellers, metalsmiths, silversmiths and goldsmiths may currently be easy to over look from the isolation of a studio, but this can’t and won’t remain the case for long.
It is intended that this symposium will be the first of a series to contribute to the growing discussion about matters of ecological, environmental, ethical and green practice.
Visiting educator, author, jeweller, founder of Green Jewelry News, and assistant Director of the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, Christine Dhein (USA), will be joined by local speakers to present research, investigations and progress towards sustainable practice for the Green Jewellery and
Objects Symposium.
The symposium is about sharing ideas. Participants will gain insight into
how others are thinking about practice and the environmental and cultural impacts of studios.
It will be held 13 November 2009 at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, Brisbane.
