DIA WA 2009 forum
The eighteenth annual Design Institute of Australia’s WA 09 forum will feature a lineup of local, national and international speakers and celebrate Western Australia’s brightest designers.
The all day forum will feature speakers including:
– Norihiko Shinya, Super Potato Co. Ltd (Tokyo, Japan)
During his 20 year tenure with internationally-renowned Japanese interior design firm Super Potato, Vice President Norihiko Shinya has overseen countless hospitality and retail design projects featuring the company’s raw and distinctive style.
– Joost Bakker, Flowers by Joost (Melbourne, Australia)
Celebrated floral artist, sculptor, designer and eco-advocate, Joost Bakker comes from five generations of Dutch tulip growers and is renowned for his designer arrangements and thought-provoking installations composed largely from waste material.
– Tone Wheeler, Environa Studio (Sydney, Australia)
Principal architect of Environa Studio, one of Australia’s leading sustainable architecture practices, Tone Wheeler integrates architecture, interiors and landscape whilst upholding the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility.
– Rob Adams, City of Melbourne (Melbourne, Australia)
Director of Design and Urban Environment for the City of Melbourne, Professor Rob Adams was responsible for the city’s first comprehensive urban design strategy over two decades ago and has been instrumental in revitalising the face of Melbourne.
– Catriona Gregg, designer and furniture maker (Perth, Australia)
Since graduating from the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) with a Bachelor of Design in the early eighties, Catriona Gregg an accomplished and highly-respected designer and furniture maker, has dedicated her career to the pursuit of excellence.
The DIA WA 2009 Forum will be held Sunday 18 October 2009 from 8:45am to 4:30pm. It will take place at the Maritime Museum, Victoria Quay, Fremantle.
